Evergreen Air and Space Museum

Recently we went to the Evergreen Air and Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon. I found some really interesting planes and history to share.

First and foremost, The Spruce Goose lives at the museum. You cannot really appreciate it until you stand beside it or under it. It is larger than huge...if that is possible. Take note of the other planes in comparison.

This is a panorama view from the balcony. The hanger is literally dominated by this giant.

Here is a replica of The Spirit of St. Louis next to the nose of the Spruce Goose.

Three biplanes under one wing tip of the Spruce Goose.
Note: The Spruce Goose has three engines on each wing.

My Dad (89 yrs old) standing in front of a North American P-51D Mustang.
He was a captain in the Air force.
He would have gone with a squad of these to Korean if things hadn't fallen in his favor.

My Uncle was a ball gunner in a B-17 during WWII
The guide told us that the average life span of a gunner was one (1) hour.
So lucky Uncle Wayne made it back.

The 'Death-trap' under the B-17 Bomber.

My mother helped build the P-38. The only two tailed plane during WWII.

A view of the real thing.

This P-38 racked up a lot of kills.

Even it is dwarfed by the Spruce Goose.

If you are in the area, it is worth the admission fee.
Adults $25.00
Seniors $24.00
Youth $23.00
