My New Friends at Yarn Story Factory

Art by Laura Walters

Recently I was approached by the wonderful folks at Yarn Story Factory. They had heard Farloft, my dragon, first audio book on his site and were intrigued. They wanted to do a podcast of part of one of Farloft's books.

I was skeptical. They said they were going to do it for free, with music and sound effects and help promote the book for sale. My skepticism was soon squelched.

Yarn Story Factory is a podcast of free audio stories for kids! Fairy tales, bedtime stories, and stories for road-trips! You can find them on all major podcast softwares. Their goal is to help inspire curiosity and imagination in children around the world! All the while, having fun doing so! They are a small team of dedicated Yarn Spinners.

I thought this was a match made in heaven. I love encouraging children to read. I also work with a group called the Effortless English, who are adults from foreign countries who are teaching themselves how to speak English by reading, much like our children do. I thought this would be of benefit for them as well.

You see, they buy Farloft's first book, James & the Dragon, and then read long with the audio. Yarn Story Factory posts the podcast on their website with the written passage below it. Great work, Folks!

Yarn Story Factory was effortless to work with and open to suggestion for further marketing. If you are a children's author, I suggest you contact them.

Here is the link to the wonderful podcast they did for me. All their contact information is in the description.

Meet the folks at Yarn Story Factory:

Nina is the main narrator for Yarn Story Factory. She teaches English to children of various ages when she’s not reading stories for Yarn. She loves sharing stories from around the world with children. She truly believes that reading will allow kids to travel the word using their imaginations. Through story-telling, she hopes that children can experience different cultures and foster their sense of curiosity. When she’s not teaching or working on Yarn Story Factory stories, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs; Oni ( her 7 year old yorkie), and Roro (her 9 year old dachshund).

Donnie produces the episodes for Yarn. It has always been a passion for Donnie to be able to bring stories to life. Whether or not the story is a children’s fairy tale, or a veteran’s biography, the construction and stitching of an audio piece allows Donnie to scratch that itch. In addition to producing Yarn’s stories, he is also currently the stand-in for Yarn’s marketing, website developer, IT guy, artist, accountant, operations, and administrations. When he’s not working on Yarn, he’s a brand strategist/consultant for various companies in Asia.

Eiji is the music producer and editor for Yarn. He first picked up the guitar at the age of 13 and has since grown an immense passion for all things music! Living in Toronto Canada, Eiji enjoys jamming with his friends, writing and producing music and eating great food. He hopes his contributions to the stories will add a new depth to the story telling that would allow people of all ages to enjoy and to immerse themselves in.
